Combined Academic Publishers (CAP) and Mare Nostrum Group (MNG) are pleased to once again participate in University Press Week, a week-long annual event organised by the Association of University Presses that celebrates and highlights the essential work that university presses do.
The theme for this year is #StepUP, and each day the Association and participating presses will explore the theme with a reading list, online gallery and blog tour, alongside in-person and virtual author events to demonstrate how every day, university presses worldwide step up to educate and enlighten, motivate and inspire, support and act.
With the acquisition of Eurospan by MNG in August 2024, we wanted to also celebrate how we step up to support our community of university presses. So, throughout the week we will highlight the different people, processes and services involved in the journey of a university press book: from the bookshop, to the warehouse, to the work sales and marketing colleagues do, right the way back to the publisher.
MNG Managing Director, David Pickering, said:
“This University Press Week, as well as taking the opportunity to shout about the value of university presses and the amazing work they do, we want to also celebrate our part, and everyone involved in helping university presses #StepUP. Mare Nostrum Group is extremely proud of its strong ties with the university press community, so when Eurospan went into administration it felt instinctively right for us to step up and buy the business to provide a stable home to their university press clients. We are of course delighted to welcome these presses to our established group of prestigious university presses and are looking forward to rolling out our highly-respected UP centric sales and marketing service to these new clients in the coming months.”
Tomorrow, we will take a closer look at all those involved in the journey of a university press book by celebrating them on the shelves in bookshops.
